Keyboard for iPhone : MacAlly BTKeyMini

January 27th, 2009 | Web Design

Since I’m on an iPhone high… I’ve always had problems typing with my thumbs on the iPhone. Seriously, no matter how nice the touch screen keypad is, I just want to type like I’ve learned since Junior High (Yes geeky it is…taking typing class). I was searching for a keyboard for the iPhone because I knew there was this foldable keyboard for the Nokia
N95. To my surprise, I found the MacAlly BTKeyMini. It’s doesn’t fold as small as the other one I’ve seen, but I’m just glad there will be a keyboard for the iPhone.

It is new and is on Pre-Order. It is “suppose” to be out in March and this is on their website:

“Please Note: The BTKEY Mini for the Apple iPhone will not ship until Apple updates the iPhone to accept bluetooth input. No date has been given as of yet.”

The cost is $92 and shipping was quiet a bit also, but to me if it takes double as long to type with my thumb and will spare my thumb from getting thumb ache, then it’s worth it. If you think an hour is worth $92 to you or say it’s what you charge per hour, then I think eventually you will save an hour by having this keypad. Does that make sense? Maybe to some I guess…if you are one to think that, then you should pre-order.

Sorry if I keep talking about the iPhone, but I think every designer should have one or would at least want one. Yes, it’s that great!

UPDATE: yeah, I don’t think apple will support blue-tooth in the next release….sooo…more waiting. I really wish apple would just come up with a cute foldable keyboard that fits into my purse.

Griffin Technology’s Clarifi Case for iPhone

January 27th, 2009 | Web Design

If you use Evernote and iPhone, this Clarifi Case from Griffin will be useful for you. “Your macro and close-up shots are instantly finer in detail, more accurate in color. With Clarifi’s lens, your iPhone can image an entire business card with astounding clarity.”

I’m not sure how long this will last, but if you use the coupone code “Macworld2009″, you will get a 25% discount. I was purchasing one for my husband and decided to get myself one while the discount is still active! I saved $17 or so. Oh and it was free ground shipping!!

Apple Mac Pro - Wireless

September 15th, 2007 | Web Design

If you are planning on getting an Apple Mac Pro and if you ever think you will need wireless at all (now or later), then make sure you get it with wireless. My husband got a Mac Pro (he didn’t order it, but he got one that didn’t have wireless) and since we run everything wireless, he wanted to have that on there. We went to the Apple store today and I thought they just didn’t have it in stock, but he said it’s worst - “you have to bring in that heavy thing in and they put something in for you”. They basically said you can’t just buy it and do it yourself. That’s a real pain because that IS a pretty big tower and pretty heavy to drag to the store.

The thing is that the past ones did have a wireless card that you can buy online or in store and install it yourself. That was for G4 and G5, but for some reason they don’t have this “card” at the store or online that you can purchase and it may not even be a card anymore (don’t know what it is). So you just can’t do it yourself. So make sure you order one with wireless already there, if you ever will need wireless.

UPDATE: So I just search for more on this and found this which basically says that you should be able to get it at the store. My husband said it might be that you have to convince them that you are capable of installing it yourself since it’s not just putting in a card like how it use to be.
